World Blood Donor Day 2022 - Safe Blood Awareness

In 2022, the slogan for World Blood Donor Day will be "Donating blood is an act of solidarity. Join the effort, save lives" to draw attention to the role that voluntary blood donation can play in saving lives and strengthening the community unity.

Why was World Blood Donor Day established?

The day is June 14th every year. It is established for these reasons and destinations.

1. Highlight the important contribution of voluntary unpaid blood donors to national health systems.
2. Raise awareness of the need for safe blood transfusions and blood products.
3. Blood donor organizations and other NGOs strengthen and expand their voluntary blood donation programs on this national day, supporting national blood transfusion services.
4. Call on governments and national health authorities to take action to provide adequate resources to increase blood collection from voluntary, unpaid donors and to manage blood acquisition and transfusion for those in need.

Why blood donations are so important?

• Unpaid and safe blood is important to everyone who needs a blood transfusion.
• Regular blood donation can meet the blood transfusion needs in peacetime as well as during emergencies or disasters when blood needs surge or normal operations are affected.
• The act of donating blood helps build social bonds and build a united community.

Specific goals of this year's campaign

1. Thank blood donors around the world and raise public awareness of the need for regular unpaid blood donations.
2. Emphasizing the need for annual blood donations to maintain adequate supplies and achieve universal and timely access to safe blood transfusions.
3. Recognize and promote the value of voluntary unpaid blood donation in enhancing community solidarity and social cohesion.
4. Raise awareness of the need for government investment in building sustainable and resilient national blood systems and increase the collection of voluntary unpaid blood donors.
5. Spread the stories of people who have saved lives by donating blood to a variety of media as a way to inspire regular blood donors to keep donating and motivate healthy people who have never donated to start doing so.
6. Promote this year's World Blood Donor Day slogan, thank blood donors and celebrate unity.

Also, we cannot forget the nurses who have been working on the front line every day for their selflessness. What we can do are to become the volunteers to donate safe blood or to design and supply ideal injection training tools to help the nurses improve their IV/Venipuncture/Phlebotomy skills conveniently in daily life at low cost.
