How to Use Ultrassist IV Injection Training Pad for Nursing Training?

Aug 1, 2023 Ultrassist

The Ultrassist IV Injection Training Pad with simulated dermatoglyph and raised veins, highly simulating the real situation. The design is to minimize the errors in practice and actual operation so that you will feel relaxed when facing patients. It is a multipurpose one. It can be used for practicing IV insertion. Open vessels allow you to do a flush to see if you inserted your needle successfully into the vein.

How to use this IV injection & Phlebotomy training Pad?

For IV injection Training

  1. Place the pad on the flat work desk. We recommend putting a medical-grade waterproof sheet on the surface of the desk, in case the liquid will come out and pollute the desk.
  2. Before doing the IV, you can choose to close off any one end of the pad. Using the included water stop clips, close off the long hoses on one side to control the outflow direction of fluids. REMIND: DO NOT close off both ends while you do normal IV practice.
  3. Get ready for a syringe, look at the pad, touch the visible raised vein-like through the pad, and look for the right place you're going to inject.
  4. Do the IV injection. Insert the needle into the vein with the bevel of the needle facing up. The greater the parallel offset of the needle tip is to the injection site, the greater will be the chance of the needle correctly piercing the vein instead of going through or beyond it.
  5. Observe the flow of the liquid. If it flows from the hose, it confirms that you have pierced the vein correctly. If not, leakage will occur from other places.

For Phlebotomy Training

  1. Same as the Step One as you do IV.
  2. Creating a closed environment. Using the included water stop clips, close off the long hoses on one side. Then fill the hose(s) with liquid and clip the other side. Then the injection pad is ready for you to practice blood draw.
Note: The hoses must be fully filled with liquid so that the pressure can produce the flashback effect.
  1. Insert the needle into the vessel. Blood should flow into the catheter if the needle was properly inserted. If the blood flow does not occur, it means the needle failed to puncture the vein or the needle went too deep through/beyond the vessel.
  2. Connect the applicable tubes or syringes to withdraw the proper volume of blood.
